Church on the Way.
St. Georges Presbyterian Church Bluff, Durban, South Africa.
My role is to seek out and befriend potential new members. We have 3
new visitors which I have spoken to and have visited one. One of the
visitors goes out to work during the day and at the moment there are no
significant groups in the evenings. The member I have visited now stays
three doors away from me, so I will be able to have far more contact with
her. She is living with a lady who visits our church from time to time. I will
find out how they feel about attending a group in the future.
B. Barbara Gibb leads a monthly group on a Saturday that caters for
working ladies.
What is needed is a group for the two new ladies who don’t work.
Over the last four and a half years Virginia Jackson and I have been
running a prayer group at the Church on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
Here we intercede for every body and everything under the sun and we
have seen many prayers get answered.
But intercessory prayer meetings are not what everyone wants to attend
so a group that caters for others, needs to be looked into.
Hopefully we will be able to start the Tea Garden soon. We just need
more tables We can’t seat everyone at one table as it takes away privacy
which goes against the Tea Garden image. The Tea Garden is a vision
that is going to aim at attracting outsiders who perhaps don’t attend a
church. Also the Tea Garden can be seen as a way to build a team of
ladies who work together and have fun.
Virginia and I have also visited Iris and Bernard We have taken cake for
tea and had a great morning with them. We witnessed to Bernard who is
over 80 and he was very open to what we chatted about. Finally Jesus is
in control and much prayer has gone up about my role as coordinator and
the 12 Keys.
