What has happened so far
At present we meet every first Tuesday morning of each month at 10h30.
We are keen to get more people involved here. However there are others
who do not attend the meeting but are involved in this ministry already.
Three others, I believe, are involved in visiting the sick, helping the older
folk to do their shopping, taking them to visit their doctors, and helping in
other ways. Our group appreciates everyone who is involved in pastoral
and lay visitation.
If I could make a suggestion here it would be great if all involved in this
ministry could meet on the pre- arranged first Tuesday of every month,
then there would be better communication. We endeavour to keep all
meetings short and to the point, maximum of one hour.
Those who attend the meetings so far are, Pastor Geoff Unwin, Linda
Milln, Virginia Jackson, Maureen Palmer, Elka and Cindy Willis.
A reminder of the next meeting will be put into the church notice on the
Sunday before the meeting is to be held.
At the AGM last Tuesday evening on the 4 April Linda Milln suggested to
Pastor Geoff Unwin that he take over as the Coordinator of this Key as
the bulk of his ministry consists of pastoral and lay visitation. Linda Milln is
already involved in the 12 Keys as the Co-coordinator of the 12 Keys and
was requested to manage the programme and get a better communication
system going.
At the moment we are spending most of our time visiting new comers and
as the need arises we visit members of the congregation.
So far we have 3 or 4 new people who attend regularly on Sunday
morning. In the evening service we have a new lady attending and on and
off we are seeing a few new young people attending. Geoff is
implementing a new course geared for new people for Sunday evenings
and this will kick off on 23 April 2006. I plan to invite some of the young
people I met at Backline Coffee Bar to attend the course (those who as
yet do not attend a church)
