Church on the Way.
St. Georges Presbyterian Church Bluff, Durban, South Africa.
WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED
1) We have established the Coffee Bar as a venue for the youth,
including:
2) Banners- x1inside, x1 outside, plus other signage for toilets etc, non
smoking & drinking.
3) Kitchen equipment, e.g. microwave, plus ABI fridge, mop & bucket,
cutlery tray, knives etc (The new fridge and new stove was part of the
cake/kitchen fund & donations by Milln’s & Etheridge’s)
4) Pool table
5) X2 new aluminium tables
6) DVD Player bought by Backline, plus TV on permanent loan from Son
Surf
7) Various decorative items e.g. bamboo backdrop & laminated posters.
In addition to the above, we have...
1) Gained visibility in our Bluff community by providing an alternate venue
for the youth.
2) Established contacts with many of our fellow churches by extending an
invitation for them to join us in our project.
3) Formed x3 Backline teams i.e. Church on the Way, Trinity Gospel
Ministry, & Son Surf.
4) Allied with about 14 local Christian/gospel bands.
5) Started the hall notice board functioning again.
6) Advertised Backline in the Southlands Sun, plus erected posters at
local schools.
OUR GOALS FORWARD
We plan to:
1) Hold occasional 12 key meetings at Harry & Cheryl’s house - Dates to
be confirmed
2) Install at least x2 more slot machine games for the youth in addition to
the pool table, plus other games like table tennis.
3) Replace ladies & gents toilet seats with new wooden ones.
4) Buy at least x2 more aluminium tables.
5) Form at least x2 more 'teams"
6) Prepare to have Backline T-shirts printed
