An essential tool we need to utilize as often as possible !
The weekend at Banana Beach was a time of consolidating friendships and
refocusing our vision. We all came away from it feeling it is essential and a tool we
need to utilise as often as possible. We recognise that in future more planning and
preparation is necessary to get a better turn out.
Here is a summary of some of the salient points that emerged from our fellowship,
prayer and discussion.
• 1. We recognise that our purpose as a church is to inspire belief. We determine our
destiny and create our own realities by our beliefs. Our call is to change beliefs,
inviting people to believe the Good News of the Kingdom of God.
• 2. To do this we need an ongoing Teaching program in which the Eldership are
encouraged to teach “Faith Principles” and “Kingdom Values”. A roster and topics
have been suggested for the year.
• 3. Communication is seen as a crucial part of our renewal and growth. Internal
communication is being encouraged. To start with the elders and families and then to
flow out.
• 4. Communication with the “world” is essential and has been a missing link. All
media should be explored. Suggested e.g. Web site for COTW and adverts in
Southlands Sun announcing teachings to be had.
• 5. The need for discipline, elders as the elected leaders of COTW need to take
charge and exercise discipline whenever it is required to eradicate loose gossip and
any spirits that are not from God.
• 6. The vision of seeing the church packed, we believe is possible and indeed
essential for us achieving our goals of bringing renewal, inspiring vision and
reaching the lost for Christ.
• 7. We believe it is important to achieve small goals even “one” new member is a
step towards growth. The “big” growth will only happen as we take “small” successful
steps.
• 8. Better visibility of the church. Signs and an illuminated cross on the bell tower will
help to make us visible.
• 9. Relationships are a priority, we see ourselves as a church with a vision of
building strong long-term relationships.
• 10. We believe every leader and member should be given a specific job description
and held accountable.
• 11. Elders and their partners need quality time together for fun and function.
• 12. Backline, back by June - July 2005.
• 13. Build up “Youth” P.M. service.
• 14. Surf camps revisited as a tool for outreach and growth in community.
• 15. Family social times.
• 16. Men and woman’s groups and retreats to address specific issues unique to
them.
• 17. Ongoing leadership training.
